Behind the app is Hope Bani Fasade, a sole proprietorship registered at Siltvedtveien 176, 3178 Våle, Norway, with Sandra Sophie Hjartåker Hope answering for it. Norway applies the GDPR through personopplysningsloven, and under it that business is the controller for anything personal described on this page. One address covers all of it: puls@hopebani.yachts.
All of it is written to the app's own private storage on the handset. No account exists to attach it to and no server of ours could receive it, so it is never uploaded. If Android's own backup is switched on, that small file may travel into the backup Google keeps under your account, on Google's terms rather than ours.
The trainer measures the moment each tap lands and works out your average offset and whether you are rushing or dragging. Those numbers are computed on the device, shown to you, and kept only as a best score. The individual taps are not stored after the exercise ends and are never transmitted — a record of how steadily somebody plays is a picture of their practice, not telemetry.
Tap tempo is your finger on the screen, not the app listening to the room. Pulsebeat requests no microphone permission, makes no recordings of any kind, and could not hear your playing if it wanted to. The click is a light built-in system sound played out, never anything captured in.
Nothing. No microphone, no camera, no location, no contacts, no file access, and no network connection in either direction. Vibration uses the phone's own motor, which Android grants to any app without a permission prompt and which involves no data at all.
Nothing whatsoever. No sign-in, no advertising identifier, no analytics library, no crash reporter of ours, no profiling. We cannot tell which tempos are popular, how far anyone gets through the trainer, or whether the app has been opened since it was installed.
Google Play distributes the download, under terms Google writes rather than we do. Handsets configured to share usage and diagnostics with Google feed a pooled crash tally that our Play Console shows us: how many installs hit a given fault and on roughly what hardware. It names nobody, reaches no setlist, and is read for one purpose — finding what to fix.
The flash. The visual beat is a flashing light. At 208 BPM in sixteenths it flashes about 13.9 times a second, inside the range that can provoke seizures in photosensitive people, including people who have never had one. Keep the brightness low, prefer the pendulum or the dot grid to a full-screen flash if you are at all unsure, and stop immediately if anyone feels dazed, strange or unwell. The sound. A click heard through headphones for an hour is still an hour of sound in your ears. Keep the volume no higher than you need, and remember the visual beat carries on with the click switched off entirely.
The practice. The trainer rewards repetition and a score tempts you to keep going. Take breaks, and treat pain in hands, wrists or arms as a reason to stop and ask a teacher or a doctor, not as something to push through at a slower tempo.
Music pupils are an obvious audience and nothing is collected from them, or from anyone else. There is no chat in the app, no link out and nothing to buy. The flash warning above applies to a child more than to anyone, and a teacher setting it up for a class should leave the brightness low.
A message to us is the only route by which anything about you arrives here at all: an address, and whatever you chose to write. It serves two purposes, answering you and repairing the app, on the legitimate-interest basis in Article 6(1)(f). Twelve months after our final reply the thread is deleted, unless some law insists otherwise.
Access it, correct it, erase it, restrict it, object to it, take it elsewhere: all six are yours, even though the only thing we could ever produce is a message you sent us. Requests are answered inside a month. Should the answer fall short, Norway's supervisory authority is Datatilsynet — datatilsynet.no — and readers living elsewhere in the EEA are free to raise it at home instead.
Everything the app holds sits in one place, so one action empties it: Android settings, the Pulsebeat entry, storage, clear data. Setlist, scores and preferences leave together, exactly as they do when the app is removed, and since no copy was ever made elsewhere there is nothing to restore from. Revisions to this page are published ahead of the release that makes them necessary, dated on the display above.
